Central Hotel Grand Re-Opening

Historic Galion Central Hotel Senior Living Apartments Reopens to Residents

December 5,, 2016 - One of the most recognizable historic buildings in downtown Galion reopened Monday after a $5 million renovation effort led by OCCH, OHFA, the City of Galion, LEADS, Fairfield Homes, and Ruscilli Construction Company.

The Galion Central Hotel Senior Apartments celebrated a ribbon cutting welcoming residents back home after a period of construction to repair structural issues in the building discovered in 2015. Partners in the project provided funding that included $1 million from the City of Galion, $1.5 million from investors, and $2.5 million from OCCH, an original investor of the project.

Known in 1852 as the Ritchie Hotel, the building had been vacant since 1982 before its original renovation and conversion into affordable senior housing. The recent renovation repaired all structural issues and encompassed renovations to community spaces and apartment homes.
