Groundbreaking for New Trent Senior Village Held in Lexington, Kentucky

(Trent Senior Village is a 54-unit rehabilitated senior housing development in Lexington, Kentucky developed by Episcopal Retirement Homes Affordable Living, LLC.)

September 15, 2014 – A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of the future Trent Senior Village to commemorate the renovation and conversion of a former apartment and church complex originally constructed in 1972 into 54 units of affordable senior housing in Lexington. The development will consist of the adaptive reuse of six vacant buildings on the site into 40 one-bedroom units and 14 two-bedroom units. The project also includes the demolition of two buildings not being utilized on the site.

The $8.8 million development will feature laundry facilities, a clubhouse/meeting room, fitness center, and library and computer center. Each unit will provide central air conditioning, kitchen appliances, and window treatments. Episcopal Retirement Homes Affordable Living, LLC will provide services to residents including health and wellness programming, transportation services, computer center and fitness area, chaplaincy, and other activities.

Trent Senior Village was developed using a combination of low-income housing tax credits and Affordable Housing Trust Funds administered through the Kentucky Housing Corporation, a construction loan from US Bank, HOME funds from the City of Lexington, and permanent funding from Hope of Kentucky. Equity investment was provided by Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing.
